Once upon a muggy evening...

::mood::it's a new week
::music::bicycle exotica, by michel banabila, from the album Traces

"I've always had a fascination with walking downtown, and bridges,"

he said, as we took off across the parking lot. We were off to just sit. And talk. About nothing in particular.

"And it's not exactly like we have much to be worried about," I commented, "the two of us buff guys walking around like this!"

We chuckled to ourselves at the vain irony of my statement; and we proceeded to climb up the concrete embankment that you always see leading up to the overpass bridges when you drive by, but never take the time to stop and explore, even though you always wanted to.

"I don't know what it is, but when you sit here, everything is different. I mean, when you're driving, you don't notice it, but the road really is BIG! It just has a way of putting it all into perspective."

So, we sat there. And talked. And trucks drove by and stirred up the still night air for us. And fast bikes zipped past with their passengers clinging to each other in the thrill of speed, making each of us just a teeny bit jealous. And the sun set. And it got dusky. And we kept talking.

About nothing in particular, and about everything. Cause that's what friends do. They keep up with the nothing and the everything. And they spend time together. Cause that's really what it's about, the whole accountability thing.

It keeps things in perspective.
