::music::nine million bicycles, from the album piece by piece by katie melua
Yesterday, I was at at an early New Years' party where we had a white elephant gift exchange. Each person brought a small gift, and each person in turn could either open an unknown gift or steal one from someone who'd already opened one.
It was all good fun. And I ended up with a little pink piggy. It wasn't quite a stuffed animal, but almost. If you turned the switch on, it would walk along, shake it's curly tail, and squish it's nose as it went, "Oink, oink!!"
After the exchange was over, the young kids of mine gracious host began playing with it. They would randomly come up behind someone and scare them with the the ridiculous noise it made! And as they ran around chasing each other for temporary posession of this beast, they apparently became rather attached to it!
"You don't really want this, do you?", was their beginning line. And, "can we just keep this for you?"
But, oh no, that was my piggy! I planned on taking it home.
They soon progressed to, "I'll give you a dollar for the piggy!!"
But I still held resolute. I had a spot picked out in the back window of my car for that animal, just like the cops do, you know?
Until, next thing you know, I turn around and little Philip has dug his piggy bank out, he's accounting to me exactly how much he's got in it, and in which currencies! He's showcasing his Chinese bills and coins for me, now!
About that time, I know there's no way i'm charging these guys for something like this, especially not when it comes to their precious keepsakes, and I'm beginning to discover just how much it means to them, i.e. way more than it will ever mean to me!
So, after drawing them along for awhile, just for effect, I finally turn to David and say, "You know what, I'm pretty sure that you guys are going to enjoy playing with little miss piggy way more than I ever will. So, you know what, I'm gonna go ahead and let you hang on to it, as long as you promise to take good care of it. 'K?"
With which, David sheepishly revealed that just before, in a brotherly tussle, one of piggy's ears had effectively become disconnected. "It's a good thing you decided to let us keep it," he grinned.

You're such a big softy. :D Good thing you let them keep it. Cause then you would have had a broken pig in your car, and well broken pigs tend to make bigger messes in cars then non-broken pigs. :)
HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!! I love it!!! Too cute....that is great. David has his act together, he knows when to let you know what happened. =)
